Welcome to African Violets blog

Hi, my name is Maria Skatova. I grow and collect African Violets since I was a school girl. I am especially fond of miniature varieties.

When I moved to New Zealand from Russia a couple of years ago, I found that minis are not available in my new home country. Bringing plants to New Zealand is costly and challenging. The only way to get lots of different miniatures is to hybridize them myself.

My collection

I have a nice collection of commercial cultivars of standard size and hundreds of miniature seedlings. I hope they will get married and start a family one day.
